Arik Air, Nigeria’s major domestic airline, has been authorized to resume its operations following a legal dispute that led to its fleet being grounded.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the airline’s clearance on Thursday after intervention by the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo.
The grounding followed a Supreme Court ruling favoring Atlas Petroleum, which had attached three of Arik’s aircraft as part of a judgment debt.
Keyamo’s successful resolution of the dispute has led to the NCAA allowing two of the grounded aircraft to return to service. Passengers are already being checked in for flights, signaling a return to normalcy in operations.
