Two civil society groups, Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN) and Citizens Awareness Against Corruption and Social Vices Initiative (CAACASVI), have urged Nigerians to rally behind the Dangote Refinery as it commences full operations.
In a joint statement, the groups described the refinery as a “national asset” capable of boosting local refining capacity, creating jobs, raising government revenue, and reducing dependence on imported fuel.
They called for constructive collaboration among regulators, marketers, and industry players, stressing that healthy competition and more local refineries would strengthen energy security.
Nigerians, they added, should view Dangote’s refinery as a catalyst for long-term stability and affordability in the downstream oil sector.
