The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has rejected the latest fuel price hike, calling it a “direct assault” on the Nigerian people.
The increase by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has pushed fuel prices to between N855 and N1,400 per litre, depending on the location.
CNG warned that the hike would further inflate the cost of goods and services, worsening the already dire economic situation.
In a statement, National Coordinator Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi urged the government to reverse the decision, citing widespread poverty, inflation, and unemployment.
The group also questioned the democratic nature of the increase, arguing it shows a disconnect between the government and the people.
