Dangote Petroleum Refinery has accused the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) of serial sabotage, warning that its call to cut crude and gas supplies is reckless and dangerous.
In a weekend statement, the refinery said the union has a history of undermining Nigeria’s energy reforms, citing the 2007 Blue Star deal for Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries and the failed rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery.
It alleged that PENGASSAN thrives on protecting oligarchs, not workers, while mismanaging billions in dues. By contrast, Dangote highlighted its record of road construction, training, and job creation.
The refinery insisted the union’s directive is not about worker welfare but about weaponising hardship against over 230 million Nigerians. It called on the federal government and security agencies to intervene immediately to safeguard national energy security.
