FCTA Serves Quit Notice to ‘Ya Kasuwa’ Traders in Gwarinpa

The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Department of Development Control has issued a quit notice to traders at the ‘Ya Kasuwa’ market along the N16 road corridor in Gwarinpa.

Director Mukhtar Galadima stated that clearance operations would commence on Thursday, emphasizing that the contract for the full development of the arterial road had been awarded, and engagement with traders had been ongoing since September.

The traders’ refusal to vacate has eaten into the contract timeline, prompting the FCT Administration to enforce the quit notice to prevent delays and increased costs.

Galadima urged traders to cooperate, providing them until Wednesday to clear their belongings before the commencement of clearance operations on Thursday.

The department also conducted a demolition of a structure within an estate in the Karmo district for obstructing a floodplain. The recalcitrant developer had resisted enforcement efforts, even enlisting police support, leading to the removal of the structure.
