MTN Disconnects 4.2 Million Lines for NIN Non-compliance

MTN Nigeria has announced the disconnection of 4.2 million lines from its network following the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) deadline for linking National Identification Numbers (NIN) with SIMs.

The move comes after 19 million lines were subjected to verification, with 4.3 million verified and 4.2 million disconnected as of February 28, 2024. MTN assured that the revenue impact would be minimal as the disconnected lines were of low value.

The company said it has intensified to engage authorities to expedite the NIN verification process and is providing various channels for affected customers to minimize service disruption.
