Nigeria’s Power Minister has urged the police to intensify efforts against energy theft and vandalism, which he says cost the nation billions and undermine reliable electricity supply.
Speaking during a visit to police headquarters, the minister stressed that protecting power infrastructure is critical to improving service delivery for ordinary Nigerians.
He called for better coordination between security agencies and electricity distribution companies.
The minister’s appeal comes as many households continue to face erratic power supply despite government promises of reform.
Critics argue that without addressing systemic issues like gas shortages and grid weaknesses, cracking down on theft alone will not solve the crisis.
