30 Dead, 400,000 Displaced by Maiduguri Flooding

Severe flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State, has claimed 30 lives and displaced over 400,000 residents. The disaster, caused by the rupture of the Alau dam, has submerged around 40% of the city.

Authorities are struggling to provide relief, with fears that the number of displaced persons may rise to one million.

Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the region, while President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences. The flood has worsened the humanitarian crisis in the area, already plagued by insurgency.
