The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced plans to phase out unapproved taxi and bus parks in Abuja by 2025. The move comes as construction progresses on modern bus terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi, which will serve as designated transportation hubs.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, during an inspection of the new bus terminals, expressed confidence that the facilities will be completed ahead of the scheduled 15-month deadline.
Once operational, the new terminals will replace existing illegal parks, with buses and taxis only permitted to pick up passengers from these designated areas.
This initiative is part of the FCTA’s broader effort to modernize Abuja’s public transportation system, which has already seen the phasing out of old and unsafe taxis.
The administration hopes the new terminals will offer commuters a more organized and efficient system, significantly improving the city’s transportation infrastructure and reducing congestion in the city center.
