The Arewa Consultative Forum has warned that renewed terrorist attacks pose an existential danger to Nigeria, declaring that insurgents could cripple the country if the government and citizens fail to rise decisively against them.
Reacting to bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, ACF National Publicity Secretary, Professor T. A. Muhammad-Baba, said the group was shocked by the latest violence but described it as part of a dangerous pattern that includes recent attacks on military formations in Borno and Plateau states.
He said the Federal Government must stop handling the threat with caution or routine statements, insisting that the scale of the danger now demands a much tougher and more coordinated response.
According to him, the crisis is not for the military alone or for political leaders alone, but for every Nigerian, because the consequences of inaction will affect the whole country.
Muhammad-Baba warned that allowing insurgents to expand operations without firm resistance would threaten national stability and weaken the state itself.
He stressed that the attackers neither understand nor respect Nigeria’s complexity, and their continued advance would only deepen bloodshed, insecurity and fear unless all hands are on deck to stop them.
