Following a Supreme Court judgment granting autonomy to local governments, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has vowed to collaborate with state governments to address insecurity.
This decision was made during ALGON’s 48th National Executive Council meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
ALGON expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the judiciary for supporting local government autonomy. The association committed to undertaking meaningful projects and improving local governance.
ALGON also announced the appointment of Barr. Sani Ahmad Haruna as its new National Legal Adviser.
The NEC thanked Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule and local leaders for their hospitality during the meeting and pledged to intensify efforts to provide responsive leadership across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
