The Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency (BYSEMA) has issued a warning to the residents of Bayelsa against consuming the food items that were looted from a privately-owned warehouse. The agency stated that the food items, including rice and garri, were remnants of palliatives from the 2022 flood and were no longer fit for human consumption. Adding that items were not fresh food palliatives and were not hoarded by the agency or the state government.
Angry residents in Yenagoa had reportedly invaded the warehouse and carted away the food items, expressing frustration over the alleged non-distribution of federal government-provided palliatives to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal policy.
