A two-storey building collapse in the Lagos Street area of Garki Village in Abuja has resulted in the death of two individuals and the injury of 37 others.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night. The director general of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Abbass Iddriss, confirmed that 37 people had been rescued from the collapsed structure and transported to medical facilities in Abuja.
The rescue operations have been challenged by ongoing rain and efforts are underway to remove people from the rubble, including using excavators. The community members and stakeholders are also actively involved in the rescue efforts.
