Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana has demanded the immediate rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from a school in Oyo State.
In a video message, Falana described the children as “suffering” and condemned the government’s failure to secure schools. “Those children are suffering, and the authorities must act now before it is too late,” he said.
The abduction, which occurred earlier this week, has reignited outrage over the country’s worsening security situation.
Parents of the victims have been left in agony, with no clear update from security agencies. Falana linked the incident to broader governance failures, urging the administration to prioritise citizen safety over political celebrations.
The Oyo State government has yet to issue a detailed rescue plan, raising fears that the case may join the long list of unresolved abductions.
Activists have called for a state of emergency on school security, as bandits and kidnappers continue to target educational institutions across the North and Southwest.
