The Federal Government has launched a ‘Convert Now, Pay Later’ scheme to help vehicle owners switch from petrol to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as part of its effort to promote cleaner and more affordable energy.
The initiative allows vehicle owners to convert their cars to run on CNG and pay in installments, making the switch more accessible. CNG is a cheaper, more environmentally friendly alternative to petrol, with the potential to reduce fuel costs by up to 40%.
The government aims to convert one million vehicles by 2027, offering cost-saving and environmental benefits. The application process is simple, and interested vehicle owners can apply online.
This move is part of the broader Presidential CNG Initiative, which seeks to diversify Nigeria’s energy mix, lower transportation costs, and reduce emissions.
By providing flexible payment options, the government hopes to encourage more Nigerians to embrace CNG, supporting the country’s transition to a cleaner energy future.
