The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Imo State has deployed over 650 personnel for its annual “Ember Months” campaign aimed at reducing traffic crashes during the high-travel season.
Sector Commander Udensi Oji, speaking at the campaign’s flag-off in Owerri, said the 2025 theme, *“Take Responsibility for Your Safety: Stop Distracted Driving,”* underscores the dangers of negligence behind the wheel.
He explained that the team—comprising 350 regular officers and 300 Special Marshals—will monitor compliance, remove road obstructions, and assist in emergencies between December 15, 2025, and January 15, 2026.
Oji noted that the campaign targets drivers, motorcyclists, roadside traders, and local communities through sensitisation on responsible driving, overloading, and the use of the FRSC mobile app for reporting misconduct.
He emphasized that Owerri’s role as a major transit hub linking five states makes the campaign critical to maintaining road safety during the festive rush. Toll-free hotlines and ambulances, he said, will operate throughout the period.
