The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has confirmed that four Muslims were killed while ten others remain missing following the recent attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Plateau State Secretary of JNI, Salim Umar, said the figures emerged after investigations and reports gathered from Muslim communities affected by the violence.
According to him, the victims were among those caught in the broader attack that reportedly claimed about 28 lives and left several residents injured.
Umar disclosed that some of the bodies have been identified at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), while the whereabouts of ten others remain unknown since the attack occurred on Sunday.
“Four Muslims were killed while ten are still missing,” the statement said, noting that their families have been unable to reach them and their phones have remained switched off.
The group added that two victims are currently receiving treatment at JUTH.
While JNI urged residents to remain calm, the incident again highlights the persistent failure of authorities to decisively halt recurring communal attacks in Plateau, despite repeated assurances from government and security agencies.
