Police Recover Explosives in Borno Amid Public Alert

The Nigeria Police Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has safely recovered seven unexploded military ordnances in Maiduguri, Borno State. 

Acting on reports from residents, the team evacuated six projectiles, a mortar bomb, and a grenade from two locations, including Dala Kacchallah and Gwange Riverbank. 

The police confirmed that the items were exposed by recent flooding and abandoned by scavengers. Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the swift response, adding that similar operations have averted potential disasters in the state. 

Residents were urged to report suspicious objects and avoid handling such items. 

Investigations are ongoing to trace the origins of the recovered explosives. The operation underscores the police’s commitment to public safety amid persistent security challenges in the region.
