The African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Manir Dan’iya, has condemned the recent killings and mass abductions in Rabah Local Government Area, describing the attacks as a glaring testament to the government’s failure to protect its citizens.
In a statement, Dan’iya expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incidents, which have left many families mourning and communities living in fear.
He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The candidate also urged the federal and state governments to adopt a more proactive approach to tackling insecurity, rather than reacting after attacks have occurred.
He emphasized that the people of Sokoto deserve better and that the continuous loss of lives is unacceptable.
Dan’iya’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the rising wave of banditry and terrorism in the North-West region.
He appealed to residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives, while also calling on the government to address the root causes of the crisis, including poverty and unemployment.
