Tragedy struck in Kano as two intending pilgrims died in a road accident along the Rimin Gado–Kano route, authorities confirmed.
The victims, identified as Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa and his mother Hadiza Garba, were travelling in preparation for the Hajj pilgrimage when the fatal crash occurred.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the deceased were embarking on a spiritual journey.
The accident adds to growing concerns over road safety in Nigeria, where poor infrastructure and weak enforcement continue to claim lives with alarming regularity.
