Abuja Petrol Prices Rise Again As Hardship Deepens

Filling stations in Abuja have adjusted their pump prices upward, following an N85 increase in Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s gantry price, which moved from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre.

The development means motorists and businesses in the capital will pay more for fuel, with the ripple effect expected to hit transport fares and the cost of goods.

For a country where petrol prices directly shape inflation, this is another heavy blow to households already struggling with high food costs and weak purchasing power.

Many Nigerians had hoped that domestic refining would eventually bring relief at the pump, but the reality has been the opposite, with prices climbing steadily while wages remain stagnant.

The government must explain how a refinery touted as a game-changer is failing to translate into cheaper fuel for citizens.

Without a clear pricing framework and genuine competition, Nigerians will keep paying more while oil marketers smile to the bank.
