The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has blamed the federal government’s policies for the worsening economic hardship and rising cost of living in Nigeria.
In a communique issued after its National Executive Committee meeting in Kaduna, the Forum attributed the economic problems to policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy, floating of the Naira, increase in electricity tariffs, and taxes.
The ACF expressed concern over the escalation of insecurity in the northern region and warned that the protracted problems could lead to social chaos if left unchecked.
The Forum called for urgent action and definitive attention from the government to address the rapid decline in living conditions of citizens.
It also emphasized the need for public policy programs and projects to address low purchasing power and curb regional disparities in social demographic factors.
The communique acknowledged the efforts of federal, state, and local governments to tackle the problems but noted that the public policy response remains weak and ineffective.
The ACF called on citizens to rally around the government and offer prayers for divine intervention to address the various challenges facing the nation.
