ACF Forms Tax Reform Panel Amid National Divisions

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has established a committee to scrutinize the proposed tax reform bills submitted to the National Assembly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the Forum’s National Publicity Secretary, periodic public policy reforms are essential to address evolving challenges and seize new opportunities.

While acknowledging the necessity of such reforms, ACF expressed concern over the acrimonious debates surrounding the bills, which have sparked regional divisions and escalated into abusive exchanges.

Muhammad-Baba criticized the hostile discourse, urging stakeholders to maintain civility. “It is regrettable that debates on this vital issue have devolved into personal attacks and intimidation,” he said.

The Forum’s initiative aims to foster constructive dialogue and ensure the reforms align with Nigeria’s broader socio-economic goals. As the Senate deliberates on these bills, ACF’s findings are expected to provide critical insights into the potential implications for the nation.
