Electricity workers under NUEE partially shut down the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) headquarters on Wednesday, demanding the payment of 15 months’ salaries and pensions. Placards reading “No to casualization” and “Pay our salaries” were displayed during the protest.
The strike, which followed an ultimatum to AEDC management, saw union members block the office entrance and chant solidarity songs. However, the action was called off hours later after an agreement was reached with management.
AEDC’s spokesperson, Adefisayo Akinsanya, downplayed the incident, describing it as a minor issue. Union representatives confirmed that management had committed to addressing their grievances, bringing operations back to normal.
