The Ayo Adebanjo-led faction of Afenifere has reiterated its call for the establishment of state police to address Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
The group, in a communiqué issued after a meeting in Ogun State, stressed that the current centralised policing system is inefficient for a country as vast and populous as Nigeria.
Afenifere argues that decentralising law enforcement will enhance security, relieve pressure on the armed forces, and allow states to manage local crime effectively.
The group also lauded the opening of the Dangote refinery and urged the federal government to revitalise the country’s four moribund refineries to reduce petrol costs.
