Akwa Ibom Government Raises Minimum Wage to N80,000

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced an increased minimum wage of N80,000 for its employees. Commissioner for Information Ini Ememobong confirmed the move, describing it as a reflection of the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
Governor Umo Eno has formed a 15-member implementation committee, led by Elder Effiong Essien, the state’s Head of Civil Service, to ensure a smooth rollout of the new wage structure.
The committee is tasked with reporting within a month on how to execute the wage hike effectively. Labour unions, including the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, are also part of the committee.
