ALGON Partners EFCC to Enhance LG Financial Accountability

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) is collaborating with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to promote financial accountability at the local government level.

This decision was among the resolutions made during ALGON’s 49th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting. The partnership aims to educate local government officials on procurement, financial management, and transparency.

ALGON welcomed the Supreme Court’s judgment granting full autonomy to local governments and praised ongoing efforts to address the challenges posed by this autonomy.

The association highlighted its continued advocacy for a robust local government system, with engagements across various federal ministries and agencies.

Additionally, ALGON is focusing on the completion of Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) nationwide and plans to involve the project consultant for updates.

The association remains optimistic about the positive outcomes of local government autonomy and is committed to improving service delivery at the grassroots level.
