An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Anambra State, Pharmacist Chinedu Ikeagwuonwu Klinsmann, has called on President Bola Tinubu to revoke the nomination of Reno Omokri as ambassador‑designate.
In a statement, Klinsmann described Omokri’s elevation as a betrayal of party loyalty and an affront to public trust, citing the nominee’s past social media attacks on Tinubu and his administration.
Klinsmann recounted Omokri’s repeated allegations—labeling the President “physically unfit,” reviving unproven drug claims, and stoking ethnic tensions—that he said went beyond political critique to smear campaigns.
He argued that rewarding such behavior undermines the “Renewed Hope Agenda” and sets a dangerous precedent for opportunism.
Highlighting Omokri’s history of mocking Tinubu’s gait and academic credentials, Klinsmann warned that the nomination risks diplomatic credibility.
He also pointed to Omokri’s public denunciations of Vice President Kashim Shettima and his unsubstantiated claims of electoral fraud in 2023.
Klinsmann urged the President to instead appoint individuals whose integrity, patriotism and restraint reflect the decorum required for international representation.
“Diplomacy demands respect and unity, not division and denigration,” he asserted, calling for immediate withdrawal of Omokri’s nomination to preserve governance integrity.
