Appeal Court fixes Monday for Kano gov’ship dispute

The Appeal Court in Abuja has scheduled Monday for the hearing of the appeal filed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) against his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
Governor Yusuf is challenging the nullification of his election by the Kano Election Petition Tribunal, which declared 165,663 of his votes invalid. The tribunal found the votes invalid because they were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Governor Yusuf described the tribunal’s verdict as “unfair” and “a miscarriage of justice.” The dispute involves parties including Governor Yusuf and NNPP, as well as the APC and INEC.
