Appeal Court Reverses Nasarawa State Governor’s Sack, Upholds Election Victory

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has overturned the decision of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, reinstating Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The tribunal had nullified Sule’s election, declaring David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner.
The appellate court ruled that the tribunal relied on legally inadmissible evidence and upheld the election victory of Governor Sule, stating that the evidence was improperly admitted.
The court also criticized the tribunal’s deduction of votes over alleged over-voting without proper documentation. Governor Sule’s victory has been restored, and the order to withdraw his Certificate of Return has been vacated.
