Army Chief Affirms Commitment to Democracy

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to upholding democracy and the rule of law.

He assured that the Army has no intention to interfere with democratic processes and urged personnel to remain professional in their duties.

General Lagbaja stressed the importance of defending the constitution and respecting the choices made by Nigerians in favor of democracy.

His statement came amidst concerns over alleged attempts to undermine democratic governance, both domestically and internationally, emphasizing the Army’s role as protectors of the nation’s democratic principles.
