Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has issued a strong warning to the Federal Government, condemning the proposed tax reform bills as discriminatory against the North and detrimental to the region’s development.
Governor Mohammed expressed deep concern that these policies would disproportionately burden the North, hindering its ability to fund essential services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. He emphasized that Nigeria is a democracy, not an oligarchy, and that the government must be responsive to the concerns of the people.
“We will show our true colors; we will fight for it,” Governor Mohammed declared, emphasizing that no policy should be imposed on the people against their will. He warned that if the government persists with these policies, it would be tantamount to “calling for anarchy.”
The Governor lamented the current economic hardships faced by Nigerians, acknowledging the widespread hunger and hardship across the country. He appealed to the government to exercise restraint and prioritize the well-being of the people.
While emphasizing the importance of respecting the presidency and the federal government, Governor Mohammed made it clear that the North would not tolerate policies that disadvantage the region.
He urged the government to revisit the tax reform bills and engage in meaningful dialogue with stakeholders to ensure that these policies are equitable and beneficial to all Nigerians.
Governor Mohammed concluded by appealing to the people of Nigeria to continue praying for the president and his government, urging them to reconsider their approach and implement policies that prioritize the needs and aspirations of all citizens.
