Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged President Bola Tinubu to reassess his policies, claiming they are causing widespread suffering.
Speaking during a visit by Islamic scholar Sheikh Sani Jingir, Mohammed criticized tax reforms and other economic policies that have strained state finances and citizens’ livelihoods.
Mohammed admitted tensions with Tinubu, stating that governors face mounting challenges due to federal policies.
He urged the President to engage with stakeholders and address these issues before further damage occurs.
The governor called on Sheikh Jingir to mediate, noting the cleric’s influence with the President. He emphasized that his critique stems from a duty to represent his people and seek solutions.
Mohammed highlighted the urgent need for a balanced approach that fosters growth without imposing undue hardships on Nigerians. He reiterated his commitment to speaking truth to power for the betterment of the country.
