Blackout looms in Abuja as TCN begins maintenance

Residents of parts of the Federal Capital Territory should brace for a power outage as the Transmission Company of Nigeria begins a six-hour maintenance exercise.

The TCN announced that the interruption is due to annual maintenance at its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation.

The exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, is expected to affect electricity supply to several areas within Abuja.

The company explained that the maintenance is necessary to ensure the reliability and stability of the transmission network.

However, many residents have expressed frustration over the frequent power disruptions, which they say are hampering businesses and daily activities.

The development comes amid ongoing complaints about the poor state of electricity supply across the country.

The TCN has assured that efforts are being made to complete the maintenance within the stipulated time and restore power to all affected areas.

Meanwhile, consumers are urged to exercise patience as the company works to improve the nation’s power infrastructure.

This is yet another reminder of the challenges facing Nigeria’s power sector, with many calling for more sustainable solutions.
