A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of former governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai to June 2026, prolonging his detention and raising fresh concerns over delays in Nigeria’s judicial process.
Justice Darius Khobo shifted the hearing after earlier postponing the ruling twice, a move that El-Rufai’s legal team described as politically motivated and a violation of his right to a timely trial.
The former governor, who has been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission since February, is facing multiple charges including fraud and abuse of office.
Although he secured bail in a separate case at the Federal High Court, he remains detained as proceedings continue.
