The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the arraignment of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over an alleged N80 billion fraud to December 13, 2024.
This followed Bello’s claim that his legal team was unaware of the hearing, initially set for January 21, 2025.
Justice Emeka Nwite rejected the EFCC’s plea to proceed in the absence of Bello’s counsel, citing the need for fair hearing.
The judge ordered the EFCC to notify Bello’s lawyers and ruled that he remain in EFCC custody until the new date.
The court had previously set the January date during an October 30 hearing. However, the EFCC requested an earlier arraignment, prompting the revised schedule.
Bello also faces a separate N110 billion fraud case in the Federal Capital Territory High Court. His bail ruling in that case is expected on December 10.
