A Kano State High Court has issued a perpetual injunction preventing the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, and four other dethroned emirs from parading themselves as emirs.
The court ruling came after a motion by the Attorney General of Kano State and other applicants, seeking to enforce the Kano State Emirate (Repeal) Law 2024. The judgment also mandates the deposed emirs to surrender all properties belonging to the Kano State Emirate Council.
The court emphasized the legitimacy of the state assembly’s actions and the governor’s authority to assent to the proposed bill for the state’s governance.
