Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has issued a stark warning to President Bola Tinubu, saying he may suffer the same fate as former military Head of State Sani Abacha if he does not change course.
Melaye made the comment on Wednesday while reacting to the political situation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Melaye noted that despite five political parties endorsing Abacha, God still called him while he was in office. He suggested that Tinubu should not take his position for granted, as no one is indispensable.
The former lawmaker, known for his fiery rhetoric, urged the President to focus on good governance rather than political scheming. He said the current hardship in the country is a ticking time bomb that could consume the administration.
Melaye’s comment has sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting his boldness and others condemning it as disrespectful.
The presidency has yet to respond to the warning. This is not the first time Melaye has attacked the Tinubu administration. He has been a vocal critic of the government’s policies, particularly on the economy and security.
