Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and his son have been arraigned by the Department of State Services before a Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged terrorism-related offences and illegal possession of firearms.
The DSS accused Malami of allegedly aiding terrorism financing by failing to prosecute suspected financiers during his tenure as Nigeria’s chief law officer.
Both defendants were also charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition reportedly recovered from their residence in Kebbi State.
They pleaded not guilty to all five counts. Prosecutors sought their remand on national security grounds, while defence counsel applied orally for bail.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik declined the bail request, insisting on a formal application, and adjourned the matter to February 20 for hearing.
