ECOWAS Records Over 800 Terror Attacks in 2024

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, has highlighted the severe impact of terrorism in the ECOWAS region at the 52nd Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council in Abuja.

Tuggar reported over 7,000 deaths from more than 800 terrorist incidents between January and May 2024, particularly affecting Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali.

He emphasized the need for coordinated action and unity among ECOWAS members to combat terrorism and address other challenges such as climate change, migration, and organized crime.
