Kebbi State has shut public schools in affected communities following the recent kidnapping of female students in Maga.
Special Adviser to the Governor, Abdullahi Idris Zuru, said the administration inherited persistent banditry but has since provided extensive logistical support to the military, which helped reduce attacks before the latest incident.
He noted that most attacks originate from bandits crossing into Kebbi from neighbouring Zamfara and Sokoto States.
Zuru said the state has compiled detailed records of all boarding schools and has intensified intelligence and physical surveillance in and around school premises.
Security measures include heavy deployment of soldiers, police officers, vigilante groups, and enhanced intelligence sharing with the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to him, the state had enjoyed relative calm until the recent abduction, prompting an immediate escalation of security protocols to protect students and teachers.
