President Bola Tinubu signed the bill into law in June 2023 to establish a Students Loan Fund (SLF) providing interest-free loans for higher education.
Despite previous preparations, including the finalization of the Student Loan Scheme website, the launch faced delays, prompting uncertainty about the new commencement date.
