The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) kicked off smoothly nationwide on Thursday, with over 2 million candidates expected to sit for the test conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The exercise, which ends on May 5, has so far received positive feedback from candidates and supervisors.
At a CBT centre in Kurudu, Abuja, candidates arrived as early as 6 a.m., with some accompanied by their parents. While some experienced minor technical glitches, supervisors promptly resolved them.
Mary, a first-timer, expressed nervousness but praised the orderly conduct. Another candidate, Emmanuel Ezegwu, noted improvements over last year, saying, “This centre is better and smoother.”
At Future Gate Academy in Nasarawa, biometric screening began by 6:30 a.m., giving candidates ample time to settle. Stephanie Okwori and Joseph Joshua described the environment as calm and conducive.
Meanwhile, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, assured candidates of a seamless experience, citing innovations aimed at boosting exam integrity.
Supervisors advised distant candidates to arrive a day early to avoid delays.
