Polytechnic Lecturers Issue Strike Ultimatum Over Unmet Demands

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address unmet agreements, or face an indefinite strike.

ASUP leaders, speaking after their 111th National Executive Council meeting, expressed frustration with the government’s failure to fulfill agreements dating back to 2010.

The union’s demands include the resolution of arrears under the CONTISS-15 migration scheme, completion of a 2010 renegotiation agreement, and immediate payment of promotion arrears in federal institutions.

Local ASUP chapters across the country have been instructed to prepare for protests and media campaigns during the ultimatum period.

ASUP noted that the government’s continued disregard for these issues threatens the academic environment, urging authorities to act swiftly to avoid a nationwide shutdown of polytechnics.
