The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the results of the 2024 Second Series West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, revealing that 43,923 candidates—67.55% of those who sat for the exam—scored credit and above in at least five subjects.
Out of 65,023 candidates who participated, 34,878 (53.64%) secured credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics, marking an increase of 9.35% compared to the 2022 and 2023 results.
The examination was held across 5,067 centers utilizing both paper-based and computer-based formats, with 31,504 male and 33,519 female candidates, the latter representing 51.55% of the total.
WAEC confirmed that results for 62,354 candidates (95.90%) have been fully processed and released. However, 2,669 candidates (4.10%) remain pending due to processing errors, and 2,577 candidates (3.96%) had their results withheld over allegations of malpractice.
Affected candidates are advised to visit the WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice portal for further instructions. WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fairness in its examination process, including measures to support candidates with special needs.
