WAEC Releases 2025 Private WASSCE Results as Female Candidates Lead

The West African Examinations Council has released results for the 2025 second series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates, recording a decline in overall performance.

According to WAEC, 42.17 per cent of candidates obtained five credits including English and Mathematics, down from 53.64 per cent in 2024. Of the 65,752 candidates who sat the examination, 27,727 met the benchmark, while 1,899 results were withheld over alleged malpractice.

Female candidates slightly outperformed males, accounting for 51.61 per cent of those who achieved the five-credit requirement. WAEC advised candidates to check results online and obtain digital certificates through its portal.
