Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has filed a fresh N10 billion lawsuit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged restrictions on his family members visiting him in custody.
The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, accuses the anti-graft agency of violating his fundamental rights.
El-Rufai, who has been in detention since his arrest, claims the ICPC has been preventing his family from seeing him, which he describes as inhumane and unlawful.
The former governor is facing corruption charges related to his time in office, which he has consistently denied.
His legal team argues that the ICPC’s actions are a deliberate attempt to isolate him and pressure him into a plea deal.
The ICPC has yet to respond to the allegations, but sources within the agency say they are acting within the law.
