El-Rufai Files N1bn Suit Against ICPC Over Abuja Home Raid

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has filed a ₦1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission over the alleged unlawful invasion of his Abuja residence.

Through his legal team led by Oluwole Iyamu, El-Rufai is asking the court to nullify a search warrant issued by a magistrate court, arguing that it lacked specificity, contained drafting errors and violated constitutional protections against unlawful search.

The suit seeks the return of seized items, an injunction against the use of obtained evidence and damages for alleged violations of his rights to dignity, privacy and personal liberty.

The case also names the Inspector-General of Police and the Attorney-General of the Federation as respondents.
