Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has criticized Nigeria’s leadership for falling short of expectations, asserting that good intentions alone are insufficient to drive national progress.
In an interview on Channels TV’s *Politics Today*, Fayemi emphasized that while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well-intentioned, decisive actions and results are essential to truly benefit the people.
Fayemi remarked, “We must apologize to the Nigerian people for not doing enough. It’s not just about competence—it’s about overcoming structural impediments that hinder progress.” He highlighted that past decisions, including subsidy removals and currency policy shifts, have contributed to the rising cost of living and overall economic hardship.
Fayemi stressed the need for all leaders to work collaboratively and channel their good intentions into tangible policies that can uplift the nation. He recalled his own experience and responsibility as a leader raised by “giants” and underscored his commitment to empowering the youth.
“We have a duty to ensure that our actions yield results that improve the lives of Nigerians,” he stated, calling for unity among leaders to overcome the challenges facing the country.
