Administrative activities at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) were shut down on Monday as workers commenced an indefinite strike over welfare-related demands.
As early as 7:00 a.m., the main gates of the FCTA/FCDA Secretariat were locked, preventing access by staff and visitors. Most departments and agencies within the complex were completely closed.
The strike followed a circular issued late Sunday by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) directing all workers to stay at home.
In the notice, titled “Remain at Home,” JUAC warned workers against reporting for duty, stating that task forces had been deployed to ensure full compliance.
“By this notice, all staff are advised to stay at home as the strike action commences today,” the statement said.
Union leaders said the action was necessary to press home demands for improved working conditions. As of the time of filing this report, the FCTA management had yet to issue an official response, raising concerns over potential disruptions to essential administrative services in the nation’s capital.
